"#BXD - Baixada Nunca Se Rende" shows the potential of music and the arts to transform the reality of Baixada Fluminense, RJ, one of the most violent metropolitan regions in the world.
Directed by the Brazilian documentarist Juliana Spinola and the Italian documentarist Christian Tragni, the film tells the world the story of the first collective of artists and musicians from Rio de Janeiro peripheries supported by UNDP World Centre for Sustainable Development, the open group of musicians Baixada Nunca Se Rende. Produced in January and February 2017 in Belford Roxo, Nova Iguaçu and Duque de Caxias, the film is part of the pilot project "Music to Advance Sustainable Development", which translates the concept of sustainable development into concrete actions at the local level. It will serve as a basis for the development of a new methodology of citizen engagement for the UNDP offices in 166 developing countries.
