Establishing a Community of Practice for Climate-Smart Agriculture for Eastern and Southern Africa: Review of Opportunities, Challenges and Potential Solutions
REPORT SERIES Nr. 1 | DECEMBER 2014
Authors: Leisa Perch (RIO+ Centre), Nienke Raap (FANRPAN)
The Rio+ Centre and the Food, Agriculture and Natural Resources Policy Analysis Network (FANRPAN) have partnered to implement several activities on Climate-Smart Agriculture (CSA) in 2014. Mindful of the broader
sustainable development imperatives and recognizing the importance of encouraging an inclusive policy and
practice approach to CSA, the project aims to establish a Community of Practice (CoP) for CSA in Eastern and
Southern Africa (CoP-CSAESA).
The purpose of this Community of Practice Report (CoP Report) is to elaborate on the pre-existing environment and the needs and purpose of the proposed CoP for CSA in Eastern and Southern Africa (hereafter
referred to as CoP-CSAESA). It concludes by providing practical recommendations for future steps.
