About

This site features the results of the Rio Dialogue on Oceans, an online discussion hosted by the Government of Brazil and UNDP from April-June 2012 in the lead up to the Rio+20 Conference. Facilitated by global academics, the discussion brought together civil society organizations, private sector and the general public to prioritize recommendations to Heads of State at Rio+20.

Recommendation

Promote food systems that are sustainable and contribute to improvement of health. (Public Choice)

Develop policies to encourage sustainable production of food supplies directed to both producers and consumers. (Audience Choice)

Eliminate misery and poverty-related malnutrition. Empower women farmers, small holder farmers, young farmers and indigenous people. Ensure their access to land, water and seed as well as their full involvement in public decision making regarding food production and food and nutrition security. (Panelists' Choice)
