Over the last past decades, Social Protection has been one of the most important tool to fight poverty, marginalization and exclusion, and to reach those left behind especially in the Global South. Social Protection Programs have helped to lift hundreds of millions of people out of poverty in Latin America and most recently in Africa and Asia while reducing inequalities.

With the new Paris Agreement and the Sendai Disaster Risk Reduction framework, Social Protection that is inclusive and risk-sensitive can be a powerful tool to achieving the 2030 Agenda. I can help in reaching goals that are directly Linked to SDG 1 (No Poverty), but for achieving development progress in many fundamentally interlinked Goals, including SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being), SDG 5 (Gender Equality), SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities), SDG 13 (Climate), SDG 14 (Life under Water), SDG15 (Life on Land) and SDG 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions).
